One thing about living in a country with real seasons again - and living in a basement - is leaves. When all the trees in the neighborhood start turning and the wind whips up, it's in our entry staircase where most of the leaves settle. Some garbage tends to end up there too, so whenever it's dry i scoop everything up and toss it back down the street. The weirdest piece of garbage we get is old pages of Family Circus comics. At first i thought it was just a once-off random piece of trash, but it happened several times last year and now it's happening this year too. I wonder if they're messages from God that i should be paying heed to or something. Or maybe there's a house built from comics somewhere nearby that is losing its insulation year by year...

I've been sick the last week or so. J was away last weekend at a convention and came back sick, which promptly jumped to me. I made it through most of the week okay, but the last couple days have been extra crappy. She's away all day today too doing stuff so i've decided to have a B movie day. We have a $10/month Blockbuster pass where you can rent as many old movies as you like as long as you only rent one at a time. Blockbuster is a bit over a half mile away so it's not too much trouble to walk back and forth a few times a day to get more movies. On my agenda today i have Starship Troopers 2, Starship Troopers 3 and Alien vs. Predator: Requiem. Hopefully my health will hold up for the trips.

I need to watch movies that will make me dumber, you see. Last night we discovered the Jeopardy archive website, which lets you play pretty much every Jeopardy game since 1984. It's a font of useless trivia and a massive time-waster. My mind is now overflowing.

Tomorrow we are going to go watch the Santa Claus Parade. It's kinda cool to be going to see it live after years of watching it on TV in other countries. I can't say parades are my favorite thing, standing around throngs of people for hours only to catch a ten second glimpse of something as it rolls past... But you know, it reminds me of being a kid. And poor J never got to go as a kid because her family don't celebrate Christmas.

Which reminds me, we should probably take the Halloween decorations down and change over. A few houses have already got their Christmas lights up. That's what happens when you have Thanksgiving in October, yanno. It just messes up the whole flow of things.

I'm sure i had much more insightful stuff to share but apparently my brain is full of random crap right now.
