I just checked out the Carls Jr website to see if they were still making the low-carb burgers with lettuce instead of buns, and i saw the Teriyaki burger... with pineapple slice! I miss my Works burgers they sell at KFC in Australia (bacon and pineapple) and sometimes you can find me lying in the fetal position whimpering in the knowledge that no one in Canada does anything like it. I must say, i've been disappointed at the quality of the fast food up here - it's definitely no California. There are hundreds of shitty donut-and-coffee places that make coffee to a McDonald's standard, but for a decent burger you need to visit a fancy ass sit-down restaurant like Hard Rock.
Also, they love their mushrooms. The burger price ladder here goes: hamburger, cheeseburger, bacon cheeseburger, BURGER COVERED IN GOOEY MUSHROOM SHIT. It's weird and wrong. Though at least it's not pickled beets and a fried egg. That Australian shit is grody.
Canada does have one unique fast food burger chain - Harvey's. They're like the Subway of burgers. You order your bun and patty and then it's all assembled in front of you with your choice of toppings. Unfortunately the end product comes out much the same as A&W or Wendy's, though you can ask for lots of peppers and hot sauce to hide the fact (they got a pepper bar!!)
