Why is it warm outside and cold inside?

So last night i went out for a dance for the first time in ages. It was good to get out on the dancefloor for 5-6 hours again, even though the music at Family doesn't do much for me. Of course every time you go out there's always a story. Last time it was the bouncer telling me to quit headbanging to The Prodigy (i guess i forgot i wasn't in Holland any more), and last night it was The Shoulder Chick.

Around 2am probably (just before the glamor people go home and leave the ravers and gays and middle-aged vodka drinkers to themselves) this chick comes up and grabs me in the middle of the dancefloor. "Oh my God! You're so beautiful." Nope, i didn't get any hot lesbian action like the two chicks up on the stage, i got someone who i strongly suspect was transsexual pulling on my shoulders. "You look fantastic but you need to put your shoulders back and stick out your tits!" Erm, okay. I'm just dancing, man. I told her that and then shrugged it off and kept going.

Two seconds later these hands are on my shoulders again pulling them back. I swear this went on for about five or ten minutes, much to the bemused looks of everyone around us (all of whom were dancing deep and jumping around raver-style BECAUSE IT'S A FREAKING TECHNO NIGHTCLUB). And this woman was, as far as i could see, the only person in the whole damn club doing that whole stiff/straight/singles bar thing. What the hell is up with that? I'm not there to show off my tits, i'm there to dance.

You know i used to worry about what people would think of my dancing before i ever went out. Then i went to LVC when i was 15 and i realized noone gave a fuck, because everyone's on the dancefloor to have a good time. This was a rock/alternative club with a dash of techno and industrial. Amazing to think it's been over eight years now. In that time i've had people headbanging around me, pogoing, slam-dancing, gabbering, raving, tripping over their own feet, jumping up and down yelling random Leary-esque quotes, smiling, on their knees in front of speakers, twisting their arms like contortionists, punching the air, breakdancing... But i've never really been out anywhere where people just bop around all straight and preened trying to impress people like in an MTV video clip. Sometimes i forget that 90% of clubs probably ARE like that and i just never go to them.

Still. That was pretty weird.
